X-Men #98 (2000) (VF)
X-Men #98 (2000) is a comic book where the X-Men travel to the future, discover Xavier is dying, and try to save him with a healing machine that turns out to be a trap set by Apocalypse. After the machine's failure, Apocalypse is momentarily revived, but the X-Men are successful in defeating him, and he escapes with the Monolith.
Future setting: The issue opens in the future where an alien teacher is lecturing a class about the X-Men's good deeds.
Xavier's illness: Professor X and Storm arrive in the future and discover that Charles Xavier is dying.
Apocalypse's return: The X-Men use their combined mutant powers to activate a healing pod meant to save Xavier, but it's actually a power conduit for Apocalypse.
Climax: Apocalypse is restored to life and uses the machine to try and take the X-Men's life energy. The X-Men defeat him, and he escapes with the Monolith, saving the world once again.
Aftermath: Back at the mansion, Xavier wonders about his relationship with Jean and whether they will ever be close again.
