Plot summary

  • Disguised as his "Patch" persona, Wolverine is completely under the control of the evil Muramasa Blade, which has possessed him and amplified his wild nature.

  • The sentient blade declares its intention to sacrifice Jessica Drew (Spider-Woman) to make its control over Wolverine permanent.

  • Wolverine vanishes into a burning building with Drew, and her friend, Lindsay McCabe, and the Silver Samurai are left to pursue them.

  • During the final confrontation, McCabe, with some hesitation, shoots Wolverine, distracting him enough for the Silver Samurai to attack.

  • Wolverine manages to fight off the blade's influence and throws it aside. The Silver Samurai seizes the blade for himself but, to everyone's surprise, does not fall under its sway.

  • Realizing he and the sword are a suitable match, the Silver Samurai leaves. Wolverine, along with McCabe and Drew, celebrates their narrow victory.
