Wolverine #3 (1989) (NM)
Wolverine #3 (1989), written by Chris Claremont, features Wolverine being possessed by the Muramasa Blade. Taking place in Madripoor, the issue culminates the "Black Blade" storyline, where his allies, including Spider-Woman, and even his enemies must intervene to save him.
Plot summary
Disguised as his "Patch" persona, Wolverine is completely under the control of the evil Muramasa Blade, which has possessed him and amplified his wild nature.
The sentient blade declares its intention to sacrifice Jessica Drew (Spider-Woman) to make its control over Wolverine permanent.
Wolverine vanishes into a burning building with Drew, and her friend, Lindsay McCabe, and the Silver Samurai are left to pursue them.
During the final confrontation, McCabe, with some hesitation, shoots Wolverine, distracting him enough for the Silver Samurai to attack.
Wolverine manages to fight off the blade's influence and throws it aside. The Silver Samurai seizes the blade for himself but, to everyone's surprise, does not fall under its sway.
Realizing he and the sword are a suitable match, the Silver Samurai leaves. Wolverine, along with McCabe and Drew, celebrates their narrow victory.
