Web of Spider-Man #128 (1995) (NM)

Web of Spider-Man #128 is a 1995 comic where Scarlet Spider, Peter Parker, and the Black Cat team up to defeat the demon D'Spayre, who is manipulating their emotions. After D'Spayre is defeated, Peter offers to let Ben take on the mantle of Spider-Man, but Ben refuses. 

• Villain: D'Spayre, a demon who manipulates people's emotions and tries to break their will.

• Plot:

  • Ben Reilly (Scarlet Spider) and Peter Parker go to the graves of Ben and May Parker. They are followed by a private investigator looking for Black Cat.

  • The investigator leads them to the Cat's Eye Detective Agency, where they find the Black Cat is missing.

  • They find Felicia (Black Cat) being tormented by D'Spayre, who convinces her that she hates Spider-Man (Peter).

  • The three heroes fight D'Spayre, but the demon's control is broken when Ben reminds Felicia to stop, causing her to see D'Spayre's manipulation.

  • The three defeat the demon, who vanishes when he realizes he has lost the battle.

• Aftermath:

  • Felicia tells Peter that despite the clone revelation, he is still important to her.

  • Peter offers to let Ben become the main Spider-Man, but Ben refuses, stating Peter has proven himself worthy over the years.
