Ultimate X-Men #15 (2002) (NM)
Ultimate X-Men #15 (2002) is a day-in-the-life issue in which Professor X narrates an article promoting mutant-human relations ahead of a book tour. The issue revisits the everyday lives of the X-Men, reveals a dark secret of Professor X, and brings back a significant villain.
Plot Synopsis:
A peaceful day: Professor X observes his team from his office window, as they play baseball and engage in good-natured, power-fueled roughhousing.
An optimistic article: He writes an article detailing the X-Men's good deeds and making the case for positive mutant-human relations.
Jean Grey uses her powers to aid missing persons investigations.
Storm uses her weather abilities to help farmers.
Beast is a technological genius.
Cyclops is an excellent leader.
Subversive activities: Unbeknownst to Xavier, not everything is as it seems.
Beast is secretly talking to the Blob online, though he believes he is chatting with a girl.
Cyclops receives a call from Toad, a Brotherhood member, but their conversation's purpose is not revealed.
The dark secret: Professor X takes Colossus on a walk and reveals a shocking twist: Magneto is alive. Xavier has wiped Magneto's memories and is keeping him hidden and powerless, allowing him to live out his days in a park. Colossus is horrified by Xavier's actions, but the Professor defends his decision, explaining that it's the only way to avoid killing Magneto.
Rejection and a new arc: The following day, Iceman angrily informs Xavier that his article was rejected for being too pro-mutant. Despite this setback, the issue sets up a new international story arc that will take the X-Men to Russia, Scotland, and Australia.
