The Mighty Thor Annual #18 (1993) (VF)
The Mighty Thor Annual #18 (1993) includes three stories, most notably introducing the new character Hrinmeer the Flame. The issue was also released in a polybag with a trading card featuring the Flame.
Forged in Fire
In an Asgardian tavern, a woman named Aeltri recounts the story of her son, Hrinmeer. Aeltri was an elf from Alfheim, kidnapped and assaulted by the fire demon Skulveig. The resulting child, Hrinmeer, was part elf and part fire demon. Deeming him hideous, Skulveig forced Hrinmeer to wear a mask and endure ridicule.
As an adult, a rage-filled Hrinmeer killed Skulveig and went on a rampage of destruction. Odin sent Thor to stop the mysterious warrior known as the Flame. During their battle, Thor unmasks the Flame, revealing Hrinmeer's completely normal face. When Hrinmeer refuses to believe him, Thor knocks him into a lake of fire with Mjolnir and freezes it with a storm.
Rekindled
Years after his first defeat, Hrinmeer the Flame emerges from the lake of hardened fire and makes a deal with Loki. In exchange for swearing fealty, Loki promises to give him a chance to get revenge on Thor.
Stormbreaker
Beta Ray Bill arrives in Asgard to seek help from Lady Sif in curing Thor of his "Warrior's Madness". Discovering Asgard being ravaged by a storm, Bill finds and defeats the storm giant responsible for the chaos, restoring calm with his hammer, Stormbreaker.
