Plot synopsis

  • The Hulk vs. Quintronic Man: After a battle with the multi-piloted Quintronic Man, the Hulk is subdued with gas and loaded into a police wagon. His friend, Jim Wilson, is also taken into custody. To free the Hulk, Jim forces the police truck to crash, allowing the Hulk to wake up.

  • A clever victory: The Quintronic Man's pilots attempt to use gas against the Hulk again. However, the Hulk cleverly blocks the vent with rubble, causing the gas to fill the robot's control compartments and knock out its pilots.

  • Enter the Jack of Hearts: After defeating the robot, the Hulk escapes with Jim Wilson. Meanwhile, the new hero Jack of Hearts arrives on the scene, too late to stop the Hulk. He vows to hunt the "brute" down.

  • S.H.I.E.L.D. investigation: General Ross and Clay Quartermain consult with a S.H.I.E.L.D. scientist named Gaffer on board the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier. They examine a salvaged gamma radiation capsule, which eventually opens on its own, releasing something mysterious.

  • Gamma Base: At Gamma Base, Doc Samson continues to investigate a mysterious, amnesiac man who wandered out of the desert in a previous issue.
