Team America #2 (1982) (VF)
Published by Marvel in July 1982, Team America #2 formally introduces two new members to the motorcycle stunt-racing team: Cowboy and Wrench. The issue also continues the team's rivalry with the criminal organization HYDRA, which first pursued the members in issue #1.
Synopsis
In this issue, three prominent writers—Jim Shooter, Bill Mantlo, and Denny O'Neil—struggle to develop the team's story beyond its tie-in to an Ideal Toy Company toy line.
The main story involves:
The team's founding members—Honcho, Wolf, and R.U. Reddy—being joined by Wrench, the mechanical genius, and Cowboy, a motorcycle expert.
The re-emergence of the terrorist organization HYDRA, which was thwarted by the Marauder (a collective manifestation of Team America) in the previous issue.
A vague plot point called "The Link," which is an inexplicable psychic connection between the team members that is not fully explored.
The Marauder, the mysterious masked motorcyclist who first brought the members together, also makes an appearance. The issue is largely known for its chaotic narrative and the introduction of its full cast of characters.
