Batman/The Shadow #1 (2017) begins the crossover event where Batman investigates a murder connected to a man who died over 50 years ago, only to discover the victim's identity is linked to the legendary vigilante, the Shadow. As Batman pursues the case, he clashes with the mysterious Shadow, who tries to stop him from learning too much. The two legendary crime-fighters are forced to work together against a greater conspiracy and a new villain called the Stag, who has allied with the Joker. 

  • Plot: The series starts with the murder of an Arkham Asylum employee named Lamont Cranston. Batman discovers the killer is also named Lamont Cranston, who died over fifty years ago. The Shadow wants to keep the truth hidden from Batman, which puts the two heroes on a collision course.

  • Villains: Batman and the Shadow must eventually team up to face a new villain, the Stag, and his partner in crime, the Joker.

  • Creative Team: The series is written by Scott Snyder and Steve Orlando, with art by Riley Rossmo.
